Introduction
The recent IRA and Chips Act in the United States have dramatically changed the landscape for companies going global. Yulchon's IRA-Chips Act Center assists Korean global battery companies in negotiating the establishment of joint ventures (JVs) with overseas automakers and advises on legal and tax aspects of local investments in the US and abroad, which have been in full swing since 2015. In addition, when considering investments to benefit from the Chips Act, we advise on (1) technology transfer for national core technologies and national high-tech strategic industries such as bipolar materials, export approvals by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, (2) merger and acquisition (M&A) approvals from the Korean domestic legal perspective, and (3) analyze local environmental and energy laws for Korean companies investing in the US, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Yulchon's IRA-Chips Act Center consists of lawyers and experts in the fields of taxation, environment, energy, ESG, intellectual property and industrial technology protection, who analyze the latest trends in the IRA and Chips Act based on their years of practical experience and expertise to provide clients with customized "one-stop" legal services.
